(6/12/08) Read an email regarding swimmer's itch permit: Date: Mon, 27 Jul 2009 09:38:13 -0500 From: Leslie.George@dnr.state.mn.us To: suenles@hotmail.com Subject: Re: Copper sulfate permits? Individual properties may apply for a permit to treat swimmer's itch with copper sulfate, and yes, a permit is always required. These requests are handled on an individual property basis (NOT lakewide or baywide, for example). The permit application (attached) is the same one used for vegetation control, applicants just have to check the appropriate "swimmer's itch" box. The permit application fee is $4 for permits STRICTLY for swimmer's itch control. Swimmer's itch permits are the only permits we can issue over the counter here at the Glenwood office, but please advise anyone to CALL FIRST as I need to be here to issue the permit. If I'm out in the field or gone for the day, no one else can issue that permit in this office. Other than 'walk in' requests, permit applications (w/ the check for $4) need to be mailed to our regional office up in Bemidji: 2115 Birchmont Beach Road NE Bemidji, MN 56601. Leslie J. George Aquatic Plant Management Specialist Glenwood Fisheries Office 23070 North Lakeshore Drive Glenwood, MN 56334 (320) 634-4573 leslie.george@dnr.state.mn.us The Water Sheriff wants you to know… Sheriff Troy Wolbersen and Water Sheriff Greg Windhurst have answered questions concerning guidelines/permits for all temporary water structures which remain in the lake overnight. Free permits are required for mooring buoys, swim/dive rafts, water trampolines, buoys marking private swim areas, and water ski/wake board/jet ski courses. The application forms and guidelines for displaying the permits, making the structure or buoy reflective, anchoring, distance from shore, etc. are available from the sheriff’s office and online at www.co.douglas.mn.us. Follow the left sidebar to Departments, to Sheriff, to Water Sheriff and then scroll down to Temporary Structure Permits. They also emphasized that jet skis must be off the lake by one hour BEFORE sunset. Water patrols will be stopping at Arrowwood regularly to be sure the staff in charge of rentals is emphasizing the regulations to customers. LDAA
